A Guide to Search for Condo Rentals on South Padre Island
Get quick accurate information and tips about renting condos and beach houses on South Padre Island.
Finding places to stay on South Padre is easy. The island has thousands of condominiums available for all types of vacation activities. The most common are the beachfront condos with private access to the beach and balconies overlooking gulf. But the majority of the less expensive places are situated toward the center of the island and do not have direct access to the beach or the bay. Fortunately the city maintains beach access points every three or four blocks so public access is always within walking distance.
Many of the places on the beach will be in multi-story and high-rise complexes with nice views of the ocean and beach; many have gated parking and elevators.
QUICK TIPS
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The most people who can stay in a unit is determined by its size number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Most two-bedroom condos will sleep four to six peoples comfortably. Most one-bedroom condos can sleep four. Three bedroom condos sleep eight. For more than eight people you will need to rent one for the bigger beach houses.
ELEVATORS: Most of the condominium complexes that are only two or three floors will not have elevators. These are usually the gulf side inner island condos and there are many in rental. I don’t know of any building on the island that is over three stories that does not have an elevator. So if you can’t do steps then make sure that the place you’re staying has an elevator. Typically the higher up you are the more spectacular the views.
LINENS: Most condo rentals will supply a limited number of towels and washcloths adequate for bathing. However it never seems to be enough considering the beach and other activities that you will be using towels and taking showers. Pack or plan to buy extra towels and possibly some extra linen if you have small children.
RENTAL COMPANIES: Typically the established rental and property management companies will offer much better service and be better equipped to handle emergencies and repairs and have alternative places to stay incase something happens that makes it unavailable. It’s common for a water leak to take four units out of a rental pool for up to six months. Click here for Rental Companies
ON SITE RENTALS Several of the bigger complexes will have an onsite rental office to book your accommodations. Most of these are located on the beachfront.
